Before the world’s best descended upon the cobbles at Punta Roca, I spent two weeks in El Salvador, getting waves and eating my body weight in Pupusas. El Salvador is my favourite country in Central America and while it certainly comes with the crowds, there are so many waves to choose from and an almost endless supply of Pacific swell. Here are some insights into what to expect from a surf tri...

Surfing Nicaragua’s “Private” Beachie… (VLOG EP8)
Просмотров 14 тыс.Месяц назад
Hey guys! Welcome to another VLOG Episode. Playa Colorado is one of the best (and most crowded) waves in Nicaragua. But it’s a break where accessibility becomes an issue. The beach resorts here don’t allow anyone to access the beach with surfboards from the land (seriously, they check your car at the gate), so the only way to surf it is by walking from a neighbouring beach or boat. I didn’t sco...
World's Most "Localised" Surf Destinations...

Hey guys! In my years of surf travel, I've found some places to be friendlier than others when it comes to surfing and localism. While it's not fair to categorise an entire country as "localised" or hostile, in my experience, these destinations are some of the most localised. (Please don't let this video put you off visiting some of these places; at most spots, you'll be fine). Let me know of a...

The World's Greatest Surf Discovery!?
Pros wouldn't bother. It doesn't stay good with size. People rotating? no. You'll get a small bunch of over ego small wave hounds hogging the line up. Just a Kook spot these days. Most of Bali is just a Kook spot these days. Even the reefs have surf schools pushing beginners into potentially dangerous waves. And Cangu? Let the russians have it!
ok you actually rip, was not expecting that
One day
Was just in Peniche and Lisbon. Waves were fun. Lisbon and Porto are great walking cities, and ahead of the curve with vegan restaurants.
Ripping Dan-o !
I love ❤️ this video information and clip
Shredding mate ..Looks a rad spot... are you going to Zicatela ?
Yes, you surfed it well. Not getting ahead of yourself on the turns. Timing has Improved for sure
who in their right mind would fly half way round the world spend all that money to surf a crowded mediocre wave in the middle of nowhere and he didnt mention the very real possibility of getting shot through the head like a dog and dumped in a hole, pfftt
Great video mate. I love following your adventures.
Your cutbacks are good. Try a two stage bottom turn and dont over rotate for fast vertical approach. Start doing long floaters. But yeah, you got those sideways turns dialed. Excellent surfing.
I was there over twenty years ago. Three friends together, endless waves and no crowds. We got invited by the locals to attend a school graduation ceremony and have dinner. The people were so friendly and happy to have us there. Sadly I went back recently and paradise is truly lost. Guess it’s just the way of the world. If you go go there, try to learn the language and get to know the wonderful people of the area. Fueron momentos que quedarán conmigo para siempre y ahora desde Irlanda me llenan de felicidad y un atisbo de tristeza por lo perdido.
Some real surf journalism would be awesome and perhaps if you pointed the camera at the " surf guides" of Southern Oaxaca. The ones that have privatized access to many waves in that region. None of that money goes into the local community but just into their pockets alone. But there are thousands of wealthy surfers just lining up to pass over their money for exclusive access to sandy right hand points. Surfing has become a elite sport for the wealthy.
ha ha, an elite sport for the wealthy. Sure bud.😅
Hey Dan, how’s it going mate? Could you make a surf vídeo about surf in Norway? Aloha 🤙🏻
On the list for sure!! Just need some cold water stuff hahah!!
A shame when a beautiful sport that exists because of God's great work and people behave in an un-Godly fashion...
Love your vids bro, epic👌
I highly recommend Dan's book especially if you have been watching these types of videos from Dan The Man Thanks for sharing as always my friend Be well and Safe travels 👍🤙🏻
Yo mate!! Thanks Michael... stoked you loved it :))
It’s for videos like this from Jonny come latelys like you that it’s crowded as fuck here and it’s none of your business. Surf and leave
Most days I’m in that sharky mindset, but sometimes I’d rather surf closeouts by myself.
Hahha same!!
RUclipsrs Exploiting our little secret to make your videos and sell your books get the fuck outta here
Hey great keep expoliting it internet already destroyed this town. Concrete roads comes with crooked cops. Picky ass tourists that dont realize they are deep in the jungle. Thanx again mouth piece!! 🖕
Are locals paying this beach entry fee?
Probably not. But whatever, the locals don’t have the cash to jump on a plane and fly half way around the world to visit either. Here in Abu Dhabi they charge $30 to visit the beach for a day and there’s no surf at all. Don’t get me started on Sumba, Indonesia. Sad to say surfing has become a rich man’s sport, like it or love it. Having said that, there’s still plenty of free waves out there, so no need to panic.
@@gallivantstravels I think surf should be a rich man’s sport because of the crowd factor. But if I’m paying for it and locals are entering for free and getting the best waves, well that’s against common sense I guess 😅
I'm not sure on that one actually!!
A rich man's sport... I've been poor all my life and surfed regularly.
They don't, they own the beach and they are the ones charging. The money goes to fund the town's infrastructure and services.
Great episode - and superb surfing - the wave really suits your style! 😎👌🌴
Thank you!!
yeawwww, oh man, I have to come back soon, que viva barra!!!
You’re a good surfer!🏄♂️ Looks like fun!🤙
Thanks mate!!
Shred dog
What ? $5,00 to get in the Beach everyday 🤑
Thanks for reminding me why I quit surfing long ago.
Awesome wave, you looked pretty exhausted after some waves. I think another 3 ft on that it would be cooking.
Yeah had some leg burners haha!! For sure, had some better days out there where it was bigger, but I ran out of $$ for filming haha 😂😂
🤙🤙🤙
Because of the crowdedness I once saw a couple of people trying to surf here at night with head torches on. It didn’t go well. I feel this wave isn’t worth the crowd. Bless to all
Mental!! Yeah I mean, it's an amazing wave, but the battle is definitely stressful!!
Ripping this break! Thank you for such sick videos!
Thanks mate!!
Nice Dan! Have the locals chilled a bit? Or same as always?
Hey mate! I mean, they get their waves for sure, and there'd be trouble if you started burning snaking crew out there! I didn't really look at a wave if there was a local paddling for it!
Rippin Dan!💪
Thanks mate!!
Nice!
Thanks!
Outright violence In the surf … welcome to Rocky point 😂 Bali was a burn fest but at least no blood is shed
Good info
Great video again🤙
Bells gets better 8ft+, not as mellow 😜
Shame that all your times are in GMT, it seems. In the Indian ocean, all tsunamis hit land during the daylight hours, people were awake and on the beach as the water drained, as witnessed by the many videos.
nice drone shots
Paradise... But too bad about the invasion of Israeli locusts
Dan, and others who have been there, did your female companion get harassed at all? Is Arugam pretty safe for western ladies on their own or should they stay in groups?
its the tide brah-- higher tide no close out
This guy is a numb nutz
would be interesting to hear any first hand reports of anyone surfing there if they made it
the worst thing about surfing is .....surfers.
I lived and surfed a particular stretch of coastline in South Africa in the late 70's. Each break was super localised, but everyone new each other, but still had to be respectful when visiting someone elses local break.
Pathetic - i first surfed fuerteventura , Tenerife and lanzarote in the early 80s when none of the goat farmers even surfed , then gradually it got worse in the 90s as they sold the land , greed and localism took over - i was like oh you can surf now and it belongs to you ! I had even given a board to some locals early days so maybe it’s my fault!
Thank you Dan, good video👍 what about renting boards at Thulusdhoo island, is there a good boards?
